Cancer is a group of diseases in which cells start growing abnormally. These cells grow to form a tumor, which is a lump of abnormally enlarged fat. Cancer can affect cells present in any part or organ of the body. In this, the affected cells keep dividing or start spreading. As a result, the tumor starts growing or the cancer spreads to other parts of the body.
Cancerous tumors are usually of two types, which are known as benign and malignant. Benign tumors do not spread from one part of the body to another, while malignant tumors tend to spread.
With different types of cancer, their internal causes can also be different. However, the causes of the most common types of cancer are mainly genetic mutations, stress, smoking, alcohol consumption, low fiber diet, exposure to chemical radiation, and many other factors.
The first physical examination is done to detect cancer, followed by X-ray, CT scan, MRI and PET scan etc.
Cancer can be prevented to a large extent by avoiding the causes and risk factors of cancer.
There are several treatment procedures that can be done to treat cancer, which mainly include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and several surgical procedures. If the cancer is detected in the early stages i.e. the cancer has not become serious, then it can be completely cured with the help of treatment.
However, it is not possible to cure it completely every time. In this case, treatment is done with the help of procedures to prevent the cancer from getting serious and other complications.
